The Cambridge Curriculum
The EYFS students will follow the newly designed Cambridge Early Years Curriculum which is based on the concept of ‘play-based’ learning outcomes. This program links together elements of Montessori, Reggio Emilo and Play-Based Learning into the newly designed Cambridge Early Years Curriculum. Following on from this Play-Based Learning gives way to more Project Based Learning in Key Stage 1, while Key Stage 2 starts preparing students academically to sit their first Check Point examinations at the end of Year 6.
Key Stage 3 extends the foundations set in Key Stage 2 with more vigorous approaches to content and skills based learning. Students are not only assessed externally through another Check Point, but by the end of Key Stage 3 need to start choosing their IGCSE subject options.
Key Stage 4 is a two year course covering Year 10 and Year 11. This is much more exam-skills driven as students will set a full set of subject specific exam at the end of the IGCSE course. Of six subjects offered at BISS, student are required to attain at least a Grade C or above grade to be considered for Thai University entrance.
Should student want to continue their 6th Form study, they have two options: either joining a school offering that (we can support with schools in both Bangkok as well as overseas) or attending a Bridging Course at a UK university offering a fast tracked 6th Qualification. We currently have an MOU with John Moore Liverpool University which will support student in this regard.
